Derek Anderson, a Kentucky native, a former San Antonio Spurs player, a state champion in high school, a University of Kentucky champion, a Miami Heat NBA World Champion and now currently with Charlotte Bobcats was in San Antonio on Monday June 4, 2007. The accomplished player came to the Alamo City Christian Fellowship Gymnasium to share his knowledge and experience with the children of the Shooting Stars Basketball Academy -Summer Camp, the brainchild of former player Marlon Minifee. Derek Anderson gave testimony on the rigors of success and how practice makes perfect, along with how a solid work ethic and morality factor in. The participants in the basketball camp held by Shooting Stars Basketball Academy annually were able to ask questions. The ages ranged from 7 to 17 years. Coaches were also involved in asking questions. Afterwards Derek Anderson graciously signed autographs to whoever wanted, on the object of their choice. The camp was energetic and inspired by the visit. Shooting Stars Basketball Academy has plans for other visits throughout the camp period. To learn more please call Marlon Minifee at 300-1675. Inquires on joining Shooting Stars Basketball Academy are welcome. Photos from the past season can be seen at www.HotSpotsOfSanAntonio.com.
